About the event
Walter Boston Stitt, Jr. is a World War II veteran who served as a corporal in E Company of the 33rd Armored Regiment of the 3rd Armored Division. Walt was a tank loader and gunner who fought in France, Belgium, and Germany.
He received two Purple Hearts for his service and was discharged with a permanent disability. In addition, Walt was awarded the French Legion of Honor for helping liberate France from Nazi Occupation. Furthermore, he was knighted into the Order of St. George.
Walt attended Wittenberg University and graduated from Hamma School of Theology in 1965. He has served in the Lutheran Church as a pastor and as an Assistant to the Bishop. He served congregations in Louisville, Kentucky, South Bend, Indiana, and Springfield, OH.
He married Elizabeth Bailey (deceased) on June 2, 1952. They had three children: Robert, William (deceased), and Beverly. Walt currently resides in Springfield, OH. He shares the…
