About the event

Vincent L. Santucci, PhD, has enjoyed a 40-year career with the U.S. National Park Service (NPS). Beginning in 1985, Vince has held assignments at Badlands, Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Fossil Butte, Tule Springs Fossil Beds, and other national parks, as well as supported projects in over 200 national park areas.

Vince helped coordinate research involving the "top secret" World War II Military Intelligence activities undertaken at a site known as "P.O. Box 1142" south of Alexandria, VA, which captured oral history interviews with over 70 WWII veterans involved in POW interrogation. 


Vince has been a leader in paleontological resource management, protection, education, stewardship, and science in the U.S., publishing more than 300 articles and reports related to NPS paleontology. Vince was instrumental in establishing “National Fossil Day” in 2009 and is the recipient of various honors and awards, including the Stephen T. Mather Award, the Brunton Compass, the George…
